Cisco Systems Inc has opened a Moscow office. The office is headed by Remi Baudin and currently has a staff of three, which by the end of 1996 is going to be increased to 20. The firm has plans to open a training center in Moscow shortly. Cisco’s authorized distributors are AMT, ATTIS, Belsoft (Minsk) INT, CSS, Croc, Stins Coman, LVS Systems, Quorus, Microtest – the last two from Ekaterinburg. In 1995 Cisco Systems’ turnover in Russia was around $5m. Baudin says in 1996 the company hopes for $15m. In 1995 the biggest buyers of Cisco Systems kit were the gas industry, state structures and larger banks. Cisco has also been successful in selling to telecommunication service providers such as Rostelecom, GTS Group, and Sprint Networks.
