Bezeq Israel Telecom Ltd plans to install a new telecommunications network that will enable monitoring of various functions at home or in the office. The network will enable gas and electricity companies to read meters over the telephone instead of making house calls. It will also enable verification of credit cards over phone lines. Equipment for the new Avnet network will be supplied by Koor Telecommunications, a subsidiary of Koor Industries Ltd. Bezeq says the network will use equipment from Ascom Infrasys AG of Zurich, which is represented in Israel by Koor Telecommunications. The deal is valued at $21m, and the network should be up and running by the second half of next year.
