Well who’d ‘a’ thunk it: humble 4-bit microcontrollers are still such big business that Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc has come out with a string of extensions to its TLCS-47 microcontroller line; the TLCS-47 line has five new members and is aimed at the hand-held, consumer electronic and industrial control markets; the new ones include one with a 64 by 8-bit electrically erasable programmable read-only memory capable of operation down to 2.2V; all new versions incorporate a zero cross detector which enables the designer to generate a clock from a sinusoidal wave form, and the microcontroller to detect or interrupt itself when a condition occurs; there are versions with 2Kb, 4Kb and 8Kb ROM on board, all are available now at from $2 for the 2Mb to $2.15 for the 8Mb when you order 10,000 or more, and the one with the E2PROM on board costs $6.09 for 10,000-up.
