Wellington, New Zealand-based Online Retail Systems Ltd is trying out home shopping services via the Internet. In the initial closed test, 80 Auckland customers will be able to order supermarket goods on-line from their homes and have the goods delivered within hours. Woolworths Corp’s product line will be available from the on-line store, and New Zealand Post’s courier service, Courier Post, will deliver the goods. The Bank of New Zealand will facilitate payment for the groceries, and Telecom Internet Services will host The Mall on its XTRA site. The test will last eight to 12 weeks and be followed by a more comprehensive test of 500 customers before full public access.
