HAL Computer Systems Inc, the Campbell, California-based company that is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd, is to work with Santa Cruz Operation Inc on developing and integrating Non Uniform Memory Architecture clustering technology into UnixWare in order to increase its scalability running on iAPX-86 systems. HAL, which after years of delay, shipped its own ccNUMA machines a year ago (CI No 2,752), says it’s been working on a UnixWare version for the last 18 months, but of course, there are no time-scales, and Santa Cruz will also likely support ccNUMA implementations of rivals (CI No 2,906).
