Compaq Computer Corp senior vice-president John Rose said the outlook for sales is favourable, given continued strong economic trends in the US and an improved outlook in Europe: he also said consumer preference for brand names, due in part to desirable warranty programmes and strong distribution, should help Compaq sales; on the global market, personal computers are expected to capture a rising share of the total computer market, and planned expansion should help Compaq continue to gain market share in 1994 – he believes that expanding capacity to meet demand is its biggest challenge; in 1993 product ships in the US more than doubled as the total market grew only 25%.
