The Asynchronous Transfer Mode Forum has finalised the specification for the Broadband ISDN Inter Carrier Interface but has not addressed the question of support for Switched Virtual Connection intercarrier services. What is supported in the new specifications, is intercarrier Asynchronous Mode services which includes Permanent Virtual Conection-based Cell Relay Service, Circuit Emulation Service, Frame Relay Service, and Switched Multimegabit Data Service. Support for Switched Virtual Connection intercarrier services are to be addressed in version 2 of the spe-cification, which at present is under development in the Forum’s Technical Committee.
