Novell Inc and Intel Corp have combined their network management offerings to create ManageWise for end-to-end management of NetWare networks. It combines Intel’s LANDesk Manager Software and LANDesk Virus Protect Software with Novell’s NetWare Management System, NetWare Management Agent and NetWare LANalyzer Agent and is integrated with NetWare 4’s NetWare Directory Services. The companies claim it can be integrated with over 85 other products including the major hubs, routers, server hardware, alarm processing products and Unix management consoles, enabling network administrators to view workstation and server information via a single, common interface. It is installed in one step from one CD-ROM disk for distribution across the network on NetWare servers. It supports Simple Network Management Protocol and RMON Remote Monitoring. It is licensed on a per-server basis at $800 for a five-user network up to $13,000 for 1,000 users, and is out this month.
