Irvine, California-based CMS Enhancements Inc is to close its Anybus personal computer subsidiary and change its parent company name to AmeriQuest Technologies Inc as part of a plan to transform itself into a national computer distributor, the company told Dow Jones & Co. The Anybus closure will result in a charge against earnings of between $4.8m and $5.2m for the second quarter to December 31 last for a net loss of about $5m. The company wants to be a one-stop distributor focussed on helping consultants and other value-added resellers with integrated systems for high-end users. CMS Enhancements, building on its existing mass-storage products business, will start an energetic programme of acquisitions of regional US distributors with a target of $500m in annualised sales in 1996, mainly from acquired firms.
