For the second time in two weeks, Internet access has been completely cut off in Libya.

Fights continue between rebels and forces loyal to Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi.

Internet was completely blocked in the violence torn country for the first time on 18 February. US online traffic monitoring firms have reported the second outage last week.

Renesys said Internet in Libya was blocked shortly after 1635 GMT on Thursday. Arbor Networks said the disruption of Internet was abrupt and took place between 1630 GMT and 1700 GMT on Thursday.

Google has also said its services were abruptly hit in Libya since Thursday.

Attack on the Internet and disruption is a common feature in the uprisings that have stormed the Arab world this year.

Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter were the prime targets by governments as the sites were believed to be used by protestors to organise mass demonstrations.
