Menlo Park, California-based Cisco Systems’ Japanese subsidiary Nippon Cisco Systems KK is to start marketing an Asynchronous Transfer Mode-compatible interface processor for use with its high-end Cisco 7000 router. The company originally intended to start marketing the product towards the middle of the year, but says that strong demand in Japan led it to bring the timetable forward. Specifically, Cisco says that demand has been coming from universities and government agencies. Under the new plan, the processor is to be marketed in Japan before it is launched in the US.
