IBM Corp went to Boole & Babbage Inc, Sunnyvale, California for a piece of software announced yesterday that will be a pre-requisite for the planned parallel CICS processor, but which is somewhat useful now for users with multiple CICS systems. Called CICSPlex System Manager/ESA 1.1, it is designed to provide a single point of control system manager for CICS/ESA system programmers, system administrators and master terminal operators. It provides a single system image, in real time, of multiple CICS/ESA and CICS/MVS systems that can make up the transaction processing environment in many businesses. CICS systems and resources can be managed without the operator having to know where they are locaeted. Out next month, it is a one-time $24,000 per machine plus $5,200 per active region, or $500 a month per machine, $110 per region.
