LVS Corp – the holding company of LVS Systems, one of Moscow’s largest systems integrators – has signed an agreement with fault-tolerant computer manufacturer Stratus Computer Inc to sell and support the Stratus RISC family of hardware based fault-tolerant systems in the Russian market. Executive vice-president Vladimir Drozhinov said the Stratus system was a way of broadening the company’s overall current hardware offering, which includes Hewlett-Packard Co, Compaq Computer Inc, Sun Microsystems Inc and Sequent Computer Systems Inc. We are now able to address all of our customers’ availability needs, including the need for continuous availability. As Russian businesses continue to automate, the importance of system availability is likely to increase dramatically, he said. As a systems integrator, LVS Systems is careful to never to push one hardware system over another. LVS is currently in the process of setting up a separate unit to manage the Stratus relationship. This division within LVS was due to be fully operational by the end of 1994, and will resemble the Sequentor division that sells Sequent machines. A separate company owned by LVS, Sequentor promotes Sequent kit in Russia and now claims around 20 customers.
