Future Fibre Technologies (FFT), a provider of fiber optic intrusion detection service, has been awarded a communication and data networks security contract by US military facility.

Under the agreement, FFT will use its Secure Link system as an alarmed carrier Protective Distribution System (PDS), which will protect SIPRNET data links between facilities against illegal interference or data tapping, and unauthorised physical disturbance.

FFT said that SIPRNET is the high-security network used by the US Military and State Department for transmission of secret communications.

Secure(it) program manager for CSC/WESCO Emmett McGrath said the FFT offering is perfect for metropolitan networks or military networks that require real-time notification of intrusion attempts.

"Secure Link is a cost-effective alternative to conducting periodic visual inspections and provides real-time notification of the precise location of intrusion attempts," McGrath said.
