According to Reuter, the German phone company is an equal 25% shareholder with Siemens AG, Preussag AG and Alcatel SEL AG in Electrocycling-Anlagen GmbH, a new company based in Goslar, formed to recycle obsolete electronic products such as telephones, facsimile and answering machines. Capitalised at $16.5m, the operating company, Electrocycling GmbH, will initially employ 100 people, reprocessing around 12,000 tonnes of dead equipment a year, rising to 21,000 tonnes at full capacity.
