Intellifiber Networks, a subsidiary of PAETEC Holding Corp, has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to provide managed network services to Richmond data centre in North America.

The Richmond, Virginia site, owned and operated by Quality Technology Services (QTS), span across 1.3 million square feet including up to 550,000 square feet of raised floor space and 150MW of power.

The QTS fiber build plan provides diverse paths out of Richmond, by creating a fully protected service delivering diverse routes to Culpeper and Northern Virginia.

The service is specifically designed to meet the needs of Federal Agencies and large commercial enterprises which have performance expectations and often have to meet stringent requirements for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

The fiber build extends Intellifiber’s low-latency routes between Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Chicago.

The Intellifiber Networks interconnects with data, carrier and hosting facilities in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

The company also has enhanced the capacity of centres in markets including: Norfolk, Richmond, Wilmington, Albany, Syracuse, and Buffalo.

QTS chief operating officer Brian Johnston said the connectivity the Intellifiber offering is providing ensures customers in their Richmond data centre can effectively and efficiently access any and all networks needed to support their data centre deployments, applications and users.
