Safend, a provider of endpoint data protection and leakage prevention services, has unveiled Safend Discoverer for Mac.
The new product in the Data Protection Suite allows security administrators to locate sensitive data at rest, stored on Apple OS/X desktops and laptops, said the company.
Safend Discoverer for Mac is the latest tool in the Safend Data Protection Suite and is designed to deliver visibility, control and protection of Macs in the enterprise.
Safend product management vice-president Edy Almer said securing Apple devices for enterprises while enabling productivity has become vital.
Almer said, "Running in the background with minimal impact on productivity, Safend Discoverer for Mac allows companies to detect sensitive data stored primarily on Macs, such as video content, or customer data.
"Safend Discoverer saves valuable time and improves efficiency by expertly mapping data and providing insight to unsecured data and faulty business processes. Armed with this information, administrators can then improve corporate security and compliance initiatives."
Safend Discoverer and Safend Discoverer for Mac help identify gaps in data protection and compliance initiatives, and provide insight into what policies should be implemented using other components of the Safend Data Protection Suite, said the company.
Safend Discoverer provides multiple data identification techniques which can be used individually or in combination to create actual data classifications.
