Well, the long and fevered anticipation over the new name chosen by AT&T Co for its NCR Corp subsidiary is at an end, and – wait for it! – it’s to be AT&T Global Information Solutions: wow! It seems a bit unfortunate when it’s sure to get abbreviated that GIS already stands for Geographic Information Systems, and while replacing Systems with Technology would solve that problem, the abbreviation then becomes an appropriate soubriquet for the person that decided the name needed to be changed in the first place.
