Novell, a workload management provider, has said that its SUSE Linux Enterprise Server will be used to support the London Stock Exchange’s new trading platform.
The new Millennium Exchange system is designed to provide the Exchange with a high performance, secure, green and interoperable platform, capable of making intelligent use of virtual and physical environments.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is expected to increase the Millennium Exchange system’s capacity to tackle high-volume trading.
The Linux system is expected to help the Exchange to manage the high volume of traffic passing through its systems in reduced time. The deployment will help improve the performance of the Exchange’s UK cash markets, said the company.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is a reliable, scalable and secure server operating system built to power both physical and virtual mission-critical workloads, said Novell.
With this foundation, enterprises can efficiently deliver business services, enable secure networks and manage heterogeneous IT resources.
Novell UK country manager Sean McCarry said the company is proud to be the technology partner of choice for one of the most prestigious and most recognised exchanges in the world.
McCarry added, "As organisations look to enhance their efficiency they are increasingly looking to technologies such as virtualisation, high-performance computing and collaboration platforms to achieve their goal."
"Using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell, the London Stock Exchange will benefit from all of these innovations in an integrated and future-proofed platform."
