The software application GarageBand allows users on OS X and iOS to create music and podcasts.
The software, developed and sold by Apple, lets users create multiple tracks of music or podcasts with pre-made MIDI keyboards, voice recordings, sound and instrumental affects and pre-made loops.
First announced by Steve Jobs in 2004, GarageBand boasts a number of features. Audio recording is enabled via GarageBand’s digital audio workstation and music sequencer that can record and play back music.
How much does it cost?
Apple pitches GarageBand as a way to make music with or without an instrument.
The company says: “Start making professional‑sounding music straightaway. Plug in your guitar or mic and choose from a jaw‑dropping array of realistic amps and effects. You can even create astonishingly human‑sounding drum tracks and become inspired by more than a thousand loops from popular genres like EDM, Hip Hop, Indie and more.”
GarageBand for Mac costs £4.99 and it is the same price for iOS.
