TelecityGroup was a UK data centre company which was bought by Equinix in 2016.
The company provided carrier-neutral data centre and colocation services to European customers.
TelecityGroup was the result of the coming together of three separate companies – TeleCity Limited, Redbus Interhouse Limited and Globix Holdings (UK) Limited.
TeleCity Limited was founded by Mike Kelly and Anish Kapoor from Manchester University in April 1998 and opened its first data centre in Manchester.
In 1998, Redbus was incorporated and the first data centre in the London Docklands area was opened. In 2006, TelecityGroup bought the European assets of Globix Corp. In 2007, TeleCity, Redbus and Globix underwent a rebrand and started trading under the name TelecityGroup.
In 2015, US data centre company Equinix announced the acquisition of TelecityGroup for £2.25bn. The buy-out was completed in 2016.

At the time of the acquisition, TelecityGroup operated 37 data centre in key European cities, including; Amsterdam, Dublin, Istanbul, Paris, London, and Frankfurt.
The company was known for providing data centre and colocation services to financial services companies, cloud service operators and content companies. TeleCityGroup data centres hosted telecoms networks, including fixed line networks, mobile operators, Internet service providers and content distribution networks.
Companies used TeleCity data centres to connect to Internet exchange points, each other and end customers.
