In IT, a daemon is a computer programme that runs as a background process, answering requests for services.
The daemon operates outside of the direct control of the computer’s user, handling functions such as network requests, hardware activity or other programmes.
They can be initiated by an action of the user or simply started at the boot of the computer. They can perform scheduled tasks.
