Founded in June 2011, Twitch is a social video platform and community for gamers.

Over 100 million community members use it to watch and talk about video games every month, according to the company.

The live streaming video platform is owned by Twitch Interactive, which is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, it was initially introduced as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv.

Its primary focus is on video gaming including play-through content, broadcasts of esports competitions, creative content, and now music broadcasts.

Video is available either from a live stream or by video on demand.

In 2014 rumours surfaced that Google was in the market to acquire the company but it would be Amazon.com that would buy it for $970 million.

While its focus is on gaming, the site has begun branching out into other areas with the 2015 launch of an official category for music streams, followed by the addition of a “Creative” category that is designed to showcase the creation of artistic and creative works.
