Nokia’s new CEO Stephen Elop, who took charge last September, is expected to streamline the company’s executive board members in a major management shake-up, according to the German weekly Wirtschaftswoche.
The company has been facing tough competition from its rivals who started grabbing the cellphone maker’s market share, which induced the new CEO to revamp the company’s strategy including organisational changes.
The report said that Mary McDowell, the executive in charge of Nokia’s mobile phones unit, and Niklas Savander, the manager of the markets units may have to leave the company.
In addition, Kai Oistamo chief development officer, and Tero Ojanpera manager responsible for services and mobile offerings, may also leave the company, the report said.
However, so far, only Anssi Vanjoki, former leader at Nokia has left the company.
Nokia is midst of high-end competitors like Apple and Google, falling market share and has recently registered a drop in sales in its major stronghold of traditional phones with Chinese manufacturers entering the growing market.
