Xilinx, a provider of programmable platforms, has said that it will showcase its Targeted Design Platforms for radio and baseband processing at Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, Spain, from February 14 – 17, 2011.
Xilinx said it will showcase market-specific platforms that integrate the latest hardware, software, and IP innovations to enable network infrastructure vendors and operators reduce capital expenditures, operating expenses, and development costs for software-defined radio and 3/4G multi-mode base stations.
The company will showcase its Xilinx Multi-mode Radio Targeted Design Platform with a Virtex-6 FPGA ML605 development board and connected via FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) connector to Analog Devices’ Mixed Signal Digital Pre-Distortion (MSDPD) System Board.
The demonstration design features Xilinx Crest Factor Reduction (CFR) and Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) with a power amplifier enabled by Nujira that provides over 50% power amplifier efficiency.
Xilinx will also be demonstrating the LTE Baseband Targeted Design Platform, showing how Xilinx FPGAs, tools and IP can be used to build an advanced Layer1 LTE implementation, reducing power dissipation, system cost and development risk compared to programmable DSP based solutions.
Agilent Technologies’ LTE VSA software will be featured as part of the demonstration, showing the compatibility with 3GPP LTE standards.
