Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) has been awarded a $20m task order by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Under the task order, SAIC will provide support to the EPA in areas, including outreach, data management, testing and debugging, and technical expertise.
SAIC will also help develop GIS applications and enhance existing databases to accommodate new applications.
In addition, SAIC will support the adoption of an agency-wide geospatial framework and will help integrate the EPA’s legacy GIS applications, to increase efficiency, and improve the performance and capabilities of applications.
The task order has a four-month base period of performance, four one-year options and a total value of $20m if all options are exercised.
The next-gen Geographic Information Systems Support (NGISS) task order was awarded under the EPA’s ORD Software Engineering and Specialised Scientific Support (SES3) contract.
SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager Doug Wagoner said they look forward to helping the EPA remain on the cutting edge of advances in GIS technologies.
"SAIC will use advanced GIS technologies on this task order to assist EPA in their efforts to utilise and visualise environmental data for making critical decisions to improve human health and the environment," Wagoner said.
