Safari is a web browser developed by Apple.
The default browser on all Apple devices, Steve Jobs first unveiled Safari in 2003 at Macworld San Francisco. The beta version of Safari for OS X was launched that very same day, with the browser based on Apple’s internal fork of the KHTML rendering engine, WebKit.
Features of the current Safari browser include Private Browsing, whereby no activity by the user is retained by the browser, and the use of iCloud to browse and share tabs across multiple Apple devices.
Why is Safari safer than other browsers?
There is also third-party cookie blocking so users can’t be tracked by sites, and sandboxing which provides built-in protection against malicious code and malware.
Safari also boasts built-in tools for better browsing, which includes the ability to pin favourite sites so that they remain active in the background, as well as AirPlay web video which allows users to play video from a web page to the TV via Apple TV.
