1. Salesforce

Salesforce has utilised the cloud to be an integral part of businesses. It is now being seen as a core technology that is even leading to fellow tech vendors to get closer to it.

The company is a leader in customer relationship management software (CRM) and has over 2.5 million users.

2. SAP

SAP is one of the largest enterprise software companies in the world. The German company is increasingly being seen as an integral component of operations inside a business.

The company is typically aimed at larger to mid-sized businesses and offers technology like HANA and S/4 HANA.SAP

Although the company started as a software vendor, it has transitioned to being a SaaS provider after deciding that this is the future of the industry.

3. Oracle

Oracle is the second largest SaaS provider in the world behind Salesforce but has a history focused in selling engineered systems rather than commodity hardware.

The company was slow out of the blocks to move to becoming a SaaS vendor, but now that it has it’s been utilising its legacy software expertise to grow in this area.

4. Adobe

Like others in this list, Adobe didn’t start as a SaaS company but it has made a success of it.

With well over 2.3 million paying subscribers to its Creative Cloud and more than two-thirds of Fortune 50 companies using its Marketing Cloud, the company is paving the way to SaaS success.

The company now only officially supports cloud-based software, which has allowed it to increase its reach and flexibility when offering new solutions.

The Creative Cloud offering allows for access to numerous SaaS offerings that aid with graphic design, video editing, web development and more.

 

5. Microsoft

Microsoft is one of the biggest tech companies in the world and while it is not only offering SaaS based solutions, it has created a massive ecosystem of solutions.

It is estimated by Gartner that the company has over 630 million business users, partly due to the ubiquitous nature of solutions such as Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SharePoint Server and more.
