Vodafone UK has struck a mobile virtual network aggregator (MVNA) deal with Gamma Telecom to replace 3UK.
Telecoms wholesaler Gamma sells on fixed and mobile network coverage to more than 500 smaller telecoms businesses. 3UK is the UK’s smallest network.
The MVNA agreement with Vodafone will allow Gamma to incorporate mobile phone services using Vodafone’s network into its wholesale packages.
Gamma is believed to have made the defection after its customers complained about the quality of 3UK’s network coverage, according to a report by UK newspaper the Telegraph.
Gamma Telecom CEO Bob Falconer said it was the best opportunity in a decade for the company’s channel partners to get back into mobile services with Vodafone.
Vodafone UK’s wholesale division director Tim Stone said, "This is a great opportunity for Vodafone’s award winning network to strengthen the portfolios of Gamma’s partners whilst expanding Vodafone’s wholesale expertise into the fixed reseller market."
Services are expected to go live during the second quarter.
