Apple is planning to start mass production of its $349 smartwatch in January, in line with the company’s previous schedule, according to Taiwan’s United Daily News.

Previously, the company was struggling to meet its deadline because its suppliers were unable to make enough screens and processors to match the tech giant’s demands.

It was also reported that the company was planning to roll the watch out in limited numbers due to the issue, according to G for Games.

Apple is late to jump onto the smartwatch bandwagon, as its rivals Samsung, LG and Motorolla have already released their wearable devices.

CNet reported Apple’s senior vice president Angela Ahrendts as saying to company employees: "We’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring."
