Cisco has expanded its desktop virtualisation product portfolio with the introduction of a new desktop virtualization application the Cisco Desktop as a Service (DaaS).
The new application allows the users to offer their customers a Cisco Powered virtual desktop subscription service, operational capabilities like the management tools, licensing components and the ability to deliver desktops to multiple customers from single platform.
The DaaS application allows business customers to build their own on-premises desktop virtualisation applications, while offering cisco powered performance, scalability, and security.
According to the company, the application offers better hosted virtual desktops with capacity to handle about 252 virtual desktops on a single UCS blade server and also offer support for end user applications requiring 3D graphics.
Cisco Engineering vice president Satinder Sethi said many organisations are looking for ways to achieve the benefits of desktop virtualisation without the need to install and maintain equipment or make capital investments.
"Not only is Desktop as a Service a great solution for a growing number of companies, but Cisco’s offering is uniquely architected to help cloud service providers achieve rapid time-to-market while economically scaling their business," Sethi added.
Additionally, the application includes deployment options from partners like Desktone by VMware, and Citrix.
The company has launched the service through partners like ChannelCloud, Logicalis, Proxios, Netelligent, and Quest in the Americas, Dimension Data in APJC, as well as Adapt and ANS Group in EMEAR.
