Cisco has acquired the Boston based cloud-based team collaboration platform Collaborate.com for an undisclosed sum.
With the transaction, Cisco expects to improve its next generation collaboration platform as Collaborate’s cloud, mobile, and web software capabilities will allow expantion of its communication platforms.
Collaborate integrates messaging, document sharing, and task management in a single, easy-to-use mobile app for iPhone, Android and the Web.
Cisco business development senior vice president and head Hilton Romanski said in a blog post Collaborate’s platform integrates with email and third party cloud services to make collaborating efficiently with others while on-the-go that much easier.
"Collaborate’s flexibility also enables teams to integrate collaboration and communication into their enterprise workstreams, as the application helps keep teams aligned and accelerates decision-making," Romanski added.
"Together, Cisco and Collaborate plan to provide a comprehensive solution that enables the mobile workforce to work smarter and more efficiently from virtually anywhere."
According to the company, the market transitions of mobility, cloud and increasing mobile workers requiring the need of instantly toconnect, communicate, and collaborate.
Organisations are seeking user-friendly, mobile-centric team collaboration tools that enable better informed, faster decisions to drive business results, the company said.
Cisco is planning to develop mobile-centric collaboration systems by combining Collaborate’s experiences and its staff.
