Apple has updated OS X Mavericks to version 10.9.1as the smartphone maker prepares to launch its latest Mac Pro desktop machines.

The update includes improved support for Gmail and improved reliability of search and Smart Mailboxes in Mail

Apple also resolved a problem that disrupted the operation of contact groups. .

Apple, in a statement, said: "It improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac." the iPhone maker said.

OS X 10.9.1 also comes with a fix for VoiceOver that prohibited the service from speaking sentences containing emoji characters – a concern that did not allow iLife and iWork apps from being updated on non-English systems and a virus that would cause various prompts to open the ‘Local items’ keychain.

The software also addresses a problem that may cause Japanese keyboards to hang on to an earlier used language.
