Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt has called Android a "great Christmas present" for iPhone users.
His Google+ post championing the search engine giant’s OS over iOS 7 is the latest in a war of words between the two companies, as execs take it in turns to make stinging remarks.
Schmidt used the post to outline how best to switch from the iPhone to an Android-operated phone, and said: "Like the people who moved from PCs to Macs and never switched back, you will switch from iPhone to Android and never switch back as everything will be in the cloud, backed up, and there are so many choices for you."
His steps describe how to migrate your apps and contacts from an iPhone to Android, and how to connect your music to Google Music Manager, adding: "Be sure to use Chrome, not Safari; its safer and better in so many ways. And it’s free."
Apple chief executive Tim Cook slammed Android fragmentation in a speech he made in June, and claimed at least a third of Android users have an OS released in 2010.
Schimdt was a member of Apple’s board of directors from 2006 to 2009.
