IBM has said that the QVC, a multimedia retailer, has selected its Netezza TwinFin appliance to analyse user-generated content from its web forums.

The Netezza TwinFin appliance is built to analyse petabytes of detailed data faster than existing data warehouse options, and at a lower total cost of ownership.

The offering stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analysing only the relevant information for each query.

QVC said that they selected Netezza TwinFin appliance because of its ability to execute a broad set of analytics across large volumes of data.

In addition, TwinFin provides QVC an understanding of customer needs and preferences based on the online conversations they were having about its products and services.

Netezza retail and CPG vice president Jim Kelly said as a retailer with robust sales and customer communications, QVC wants to know what’s on the minds of their customers at any given moment.

"We are excited for this opportunity to provide a global brand such as QVC with a fast and powerful way to understand its customers better through user-generated content," Kelly said.
