Freecom, a provider of desktop and mobile HDD storage offerings, has launched Mobile Drive MG, an mobile hard drive designed specifically for the Mac market.

Freecom said that the new drive has been designed for Apple MacBook and also for style-conscious Mac users.

The new Freecom mobile drive measures 10mm in size and comes in magnesium enclosure.

The new mobile hard drive features USB 3.0 interface standard with data transfer speeds of 130 MB/s approximately.

The product is ideal for both home and professional users who want to transfer large files quickly and carry their data on the move, claims the company.

The drive is backwards-compatible and will work with all USB 2.0 enabled computers and notebooks, as well as forthcoming USB 3.0 models.

Freecom Apple business development manager Jelle Stalpers said from a more practical point of view, the incorporation of USB 3.0 technology makes it possible to transfer files in the blink of an eye.
