It has been confirmed that the Facebook website is experiencing several errors including an inability for users to post statuses, ‘like’ and comment on other people’s posts and accept event invitations.
While the website is not entirely down as it is still accessible if you are already logged in, but it is operating in a read-only mode as the actions by users is very limited with an error message frequently occurring.
For those that are trying to log in to their Facebook account, they are met with the following message: "Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes."
The error is also occurring on the Facebook iOS app.
With the world’s most popular social networking site temporarily not functioning, many users have migrated to Twitter to vent their frustration.
One user tweeted: "Facebook down. Panic in the streets, people go around with their photos asking ‘You like?’ #Facebook #Facebookdown."
