The UK’s Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) has selected open source consultancy Zaizi to power its new system that will secure more than 14 million electronic documents.
The Information Management Systems (FIMS), to be implemented in March 2014, will be based on Zaizi’s Alfresco Collaboration and Records Management service integrated with Alfresco One, enabling 5,570 workers in BIS and the oil and gas industry to access files at anytime.
The system, which will be delivered over the government’s Public Sector Network, should allow users to access the system anytime wherever they are using a web browser on any PC, laptop or mobile device.
Denis Dorval, Alfresco EMEA VP, said: "BIS is joining a large number of Public Sector organisations across Europe and the USA who have selected our Open Source / Open Standards-based technology, deployed in the cloud to provide the scalability, flexibility, value and ease of use that today’s stakeholders and taxpayers demand."
BIS selected Zaizi for its secure document management systems based on Alfresco to other government organisations.
