Synology, a provider of Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers for home and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has launched RackStation RS411 business-class storage offering.

The new RackStation RS411 using 3TB drives supports up to 12TB storage in a 1U rack-mount configuration. The storage can be configured in a variety of volume types, including Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) for automated volume management.

DSM 3.0 also brings an integrated feature set for business users, such as improved iSCSI support enables integration with VMWare, Hyper-V, and Xen Server environments without the cost and complexity of a SAN (storage area network).

ADS integration is expected to enable the use of existing domain users and groups for domains up to 100,000 users and groups, which access control lists (ACLs) is expected to enable file-level privilege control using NTFS-style permissions.

Businesses can also benefit from the included Surveillance Station 5, which enables the RackStation to function as an NVR offering, supporting up to 12 IP channels. Surveillance Station 5 offers a unified interface to over 700 models of IP camera.
