Nokia Siemens Networks has acquired IRIS Telecom, a telecom and engineering services firm headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey.

Through this acquisition, Nokia Siemens Networks is expected to combine IRIS Telecom’s multi-vendor network planning and optimisation (NPO) business with its global capabilities, and create one of the region’s leading telecom services players.

IRIS provides high-quality network planning and optimisation services to telecom operators and equipment vendors in Turkey, and the regions of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Middle East and Africa, and delivers network deployment and operation services.

The company said that IRIS will continue to function as a separate legal entity with its head office in Istanbul, Turkey.

In october 2010, a share purchase agreement without disclosing financial details has been signed by both the companies.
