Microsoft has signed a deal with US-based online location provider Local.com to add location-based local product data and services on its Bing search engine.

Under the deal, Local’s Krillion shopping data platform will help the search engine to power its local product search results, which include relevant retail locations, brands, categories and product availability data.

Local chairman and CEO Heath Clarke said that the company is pleased to partner with Bing to provide relevant local product shopping information.

"Our dynamic local product data enhances the online shopping experience for consumers by providing them with valuable information about which retailers carry the products they are looking for," Clarke added.

According to a study conducted by Local and the e-tailing group, about 90% of shopping includes a trip to the store and about half of consumers spend 50% of their shopping time researching products online.
