Machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions provider Telit Wireless has acquired ILS Technology in a bid to expand its service portfolio.

ILST specialises in cloud platform services and the development of M2M-enabled, claiming to be a "one-stop-shop" for M2M connection modules and managed services including connectivity.

ILST solutions provides a cloud-based M2M platform, which allows users to build and deploy M2M applications that can integrate with database applications, the company said.

Telit Wireless’s CEO Oozi Cats said the acquisition provides Telit with access to additional value added services and customers.

"It opens up new opportunities to expand our service offerings to small & medium M2M customers worldwide, widening our market advantage," Cats said.

The acquisition would allow integrating ILST management, engineering and support staff into the Telit’s m2mAir services unit, established in 2012, to consolidate its value added services.

Telit said it could also expand m2mAIR into Internet-side services by using two ILST’s secureWISE and deviceWISE.

Telit said the acquisition would accelerate the evolution of deviceWISE to a skilful PaaS/SaaS-based Application Enablement Platform (AEP).
