Intel has introduced new range of data centre products and technologies which will help cloud service providers to improve efficiency and flexibility to their infrastructure in order to meet demand of new services.

The new products include the second generation 64-bit Intel Atom C2000 product range system-on-chip (SoC) designs, the Intel Ethernet Switch FM5224 silicon and the Intel Silicon Photonics Technology.

Intel Decentre and Connected Systems Group senior vice president and general manager Diane Bryant said the company offers the innovations that the original equipment manufacturers, telecommunications equipment makers and cloud service providers require to build the datacentres of the future.

"As the world becomes more and more mobile, the pressure to support billions of devices and users is changing the very composition of datacentres," Bryant added.

The new SoCs are based on the Silvermont micro-architecture and feature new 22nm Tri-Gate SoC process design that offers better performance and energy efficiency.

The Intel Ethernet Switch FM5224 silicon when consolidated with the WindRiver Open Network Software suite is said to offer Software Defined Networking (SDN) applications to servers for improved density and lower power consumption.

The company also unveiled the rack with Intel Silicon Photonics Technology based on the operational Intel Rack Scale Architecture (RSA) that is combined with a new MXC connector and ClearCurve optical fibre that is developed by Corning.
