Chip maker Qualcomm has entered into the wearable tech race after releasing its own smartwatch.
The Toq smartwatch is the latest smartwatch to be unveiled, following Sony’s SmartWatch and Samsung’s Galaxy Gear.
It features Qualcomm Mirasol display technology that reflects ambient light and and enables an always-on viewing experience without draining the battery.
The smartwatch will support the mobile devices running on the Android 4.0.3 and higher versions and will serve as a second display to the smartphones.
The smartwatch is also expected to offer better user experiences with its colour capacitive touchscreen display, allowing the drop and go charging experience.
Other features include smartphone calls, text messages, meeting reminders and various notifications.
Toq enables the developers to tap into Qualcomm Innovation Center’s AllJoyn framework, sending programme notifications to the smartwatch through the Qualcomm Toq app, which supports the AllJoyn Notification Services Framework.
The company said it would launch the new device in a ‘Premium Audio Edition’ that features the wireless stereo headphones.
There will be no wires between the headsets for listening and the headset can be worn outside the ear canal.
Toq Premium Audio Edition will offer high quality stereo sound with a dedicated tweeter and woofer for better wide band audio.
