Lenovo has collaborated with California-based startup SweetLabs to preload its Pokki Start Menu software in all new Windows PCs being shipped globally, joining Acer and Toshiba.
The deal also includes preloading remaining SweetLabs’ Pokki suite, including its app store and game arcade, which are powered by the startup’s dynamic app recommendation and distribution platform.
Lenovo Software and Content Services executive director Peter Gaucher said: "The Pokki software suite complements the Windows experience, and we’re excited to work with SweetLabs to open up new distribution opportunities for app developers across our devices worldwide."
The Pokki suite has been downloaded by tens of millions of Windows users enabling them to launch and access their favourite apps via their desktop, similar to a home screen on a smartphone.
The latest Pokki suite also offers an improved app store and app recommendation platform that support additional app types such as Windows desktop apps including Dropbox, Evernote, and Skype, in addition to Pokki desktop versions of Web and social apps such as Facebook and Gmail.
Pokki also incorporates Windows Store apps including Cocktail Flow, Neftlix, and USA Today, and Pokki apps like Instagrille and Tweeki.
SweetLabs also revealed that the OEM version of Pokki supports distribution of multiple app types and 13 languages including German, Portuguese, and Russian.
