German car maker Audi has launched what it claims is the world’s first car which uses a 4G internet connection.
The S3 Sportback allows users to connect to the web with an integrated 4G internet connection, which should improve infotainment services and make downloading and delivering information to navigation systems quicker and more reliable.
Audi said to use the LTE connection, users need to insert a SIM card into a dashboard as well and buy the MMI Navigation plus, which is part of Audi’s connect package.
In a statement, Audi said: "The integration of 4G marks a very important step in the evolution of the Audi connect system, which networks the car with the driver and the Internet, and in the future could also provide an interface with the infrastructure and with other vehicles," the firm said in a statement.
Features of the LTE connection include access to Google Earth, Google Street View, stream web radio, and social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook.
There’s also a fuel station locator, also powered by 4G, which includes distance, local parking and pricing information.
