Apple has created a new gold coloured phone to be launched soon, according to the latest rumours.

The device is unlikely to be a "binged-out gold" but more a subtle champagne or gold colour similar to the iPhone mini released in the past.

Last week French website Acoustic published photos of the device, while BGR also uploaded images of a champagne-coloured device with associated components earlier in the month.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuok, who in the past has reported accurate information on Apple’s product plans, also published a research note claiming that the phone 5S will be available in a gold color.

"We also forecast the new model will add a new look, a golden casing, and a new option for larger 128GB storage, to offer greater differentiation from phone 5," said Kuok.

Other rumoured features of the phone 5S include a fingerprint sensor built-in to a sapphire glass home button and a slow-motion camera.

Apple is set to unveil the phone 5S at a media event on September 10 and possibly also the release of a low-cost phone 5C designed to target developing markets.

Up until now Apple has only offered the phone in black and white or slate and silver.
