Motorola has introduced a new gadget known as Motorola Skip that allows unlocking smartphone with a simple tap, without using earlier processes of typing in passcodes.

Planned to be offered with Moto X smartphones, the new thin, thumb-sized gadget can be clipped to shirt, belt loop or handy things such as keys and then being programmed particularly to the users own device.

Motorola said in a statement: "Our smartphones are central to our digital lives…the keys to our friends, our finances, and a lot of our personal information.

"Security is increasingly important, but it shouldn’t be irritating," the company said.

Each skip is offered with three Skip dots, which are stickers that offer authentication, while developing ‘trusted zones’ for Touchless Control.

According to the Motorola, only Skip and Skip dots that have been matched with users’ phone will unlock it, while they can easily be unpaired upon losing or replacing the Skip.

The new gadget can purchased from the company’s website following the launch of Moto X smartphone.
