Enterprise Edge market is expected to increase by 15% surpassing $15bn by 2017, according to a report from the Dell’Oro Group.
According to the report, the growth is expected to be driven by the increase in implementation of new technologies in order to meet the growing consumer demands.
The Enterprise Edge is part of the communications market that includes enterprise-class Wireless LAN and campus Ethernet switching equipment and related software.
Dell’Oro Group Enterprise Edge research vice president Chris DePuy said that the enterprises are now emphasising wireless LAN connectivity as a primary means of connecting workers to the corporation.
"We foresee relatively steady growth for the overall segment as enterprises expand wireless access and maintain switched access," DePuy added.
The report said that currently the vendors are introducing unified Ethernet / WLAN products to simplify deployment and management of customers’ networks.
New access networks are also being built by new customer types like retailers, hospitality markets, and by traditional enterprises as they deploy new buildings.
