Internet search giant, Google is reportedly developing a new handset called the ‘X-phone’. The phone is being developed incollaboration with Motorola with aims to rival Apple and Samsung.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Motorola has been working on two devices which are to be sold by their US carrier partner, Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless will help deploy the "Droid" line of smartphones, and the X phone.
Seven months after being purchased by Google for $12.5bn, Motorola has been designing its handset with unique features, apart from existing phones after its release in 2013.
Motorola plans to improve the new X Phone with its recent acquisition of imaging and gesture-recognition software developer, Viewdle.
Following the completion of the development of the smartphones, Motorola is also expected to develop an ‘X’ tablet, according to the Reuters.
